American Medical Botany, being a collection of the Native Medicinal Plants of the United States, containing their botanical history and chemical analysis and properties and uses in medicine, diet and the arts..., 1st edition, 3 volumes, Boston: Cummings and Helliard, 1817-1820, sixty copper-plates, including ten with contemporary hand colouring, and fifty coloured a la poupee, good margins, occasional light dust-soiling and a little offsetting (as often), ex library with ink stamps to titles, few text leaves and one or two plate versos, contemporary half calf, rubbed and worn, boards detached and one board lacking, 8vo. First edition of the first American botanical, which has the additional accolade of the first American printed colour plates.
