Lot 101: Author: Bowman, Amos Title: Map of Georgetown Divide, El Dorado County showing also Portions of the Placerville and Forest Hill Divide with the Ditches, Mines and other Properties of the California Water Company Place Published: San Francisco Publisher: Date Published: 1873 Description: Color lithographed map. 53x127 cm (20?x50), mounted on linen. Apparently the first map of El Dorado County, and quite scarce. It accompanied the book by Amos Bowman, "Report on the properties and domain of the California Water Company, situated on Georgetown Divide,." San Francisco, 1874. The map has a wealth of information on it and is visually striking by its use of color to represent terrain. There is some chipping with some slight loss of the printed portions. Withdrawn from Bancroft Library stamp. Provenance: UC sale, 5/7/93. PBA Galleries' Rare Cartography, Exploration & Voyages Thursday, 3rd December 2015 Estimate: $500-800
