Date Published: 1669. Description: (4) , 358 pp. With copper-engraved frontispiece & 24 copper-engraved plates. (Folio) 41.5x27 cm (16 1/4x101/2") period full mottled calf, gilt arms of the Earl Coningsby on covers, spine gilt, red morocco label lettered in gilt, raised bands. Second Ogilby Edition. Ogilby's translation of the Odyssey, with captivating engraved plates. The portrait of King Charles, which is often lacking, is not present in this copy. Contemporary ownership signature of Thomas Coningsby on front free endpaper, modern bookplate of Arthur and Charlotte Vershbow on pastedown. Condition: Rubbed, joints slightly starting; some light foxing; very good, an unusually handsome copy in the original, unrestored binding, scarce as such.
