JK Rowling Personal Horoscope to auction on April 9
JK Rowling's Personal Horoscope of Roger Julian Tosswill will headline a sale at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury in London.
The lot is expected to make around £10,000-15,000 ($14,907-22,360) when it crosses the block on April 9.
The auction house explains: "This horoscope was written whilst the author was working on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone , and throughout echoes the wry humour and fanciful wit so associated with the author, but combined with a surprising depth of knowledge of the art and history of Astrology, referencing for example The Kalendar and Compost of Shepherds (printed in Paris by Guy Marchant in 1493)."
It features previously unpublished text and drawings on the subject of astrology, which features throughout the Harry Potter series.
In addition, the short piece of writing features the first appearance of Professor Trelawney - an important character in the story.
An excerpt reads: "'My dears, it is time for us to consider the stars…The movements of the planets and the mysterious portents they reveal only to those who understand the steps of the celestial dance. Human destiny may be deciphered by the planetary rays, which intermingle…"
JK Rowling is one of the most widely read authors of all time, with the result that items connected to her often sell for substantial sums at auction.
In 2013 a first edition, annotated and illustrated copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone made £150,000 ($227,993).
