2015-07-06 16:12:05

Not too many banknotes have got a back story as interesting as this one- recovered from the shipwreck of the British P&O ship 'Egypt' in 1932, this unissued 5 rupee note is now at auction. Featured in John E. Sandrock's book "Twenty Thousand Rupees Under The Sea", a million banknotes were recovered but had no value because they were due to be signed upon arrival in India. The current bid for this note is €420 at MPO auctions, with 13 days left to bid.
