Piece of original Wright Brothers Glider sold at auction
The Wright Brother's original glider, created in 1900 was a landmark moment in aviation history, but but very little from the plane itself still survives to this day.
When it came time to scrap the plane (there was little room for sentiment in pioneering aviation!) swatches of material from the original glider were sent out to each of the seven charter members as a souvenir.
This post card, which pictures the Wright Memorial Beacon sold at auction yesterday for $2,936 at RR Auctions. The postcard was originally sent by William J. Tate, who helped with construction of a number of Wright gliders.
