Lot 440: TLS signed "C. A. Lindbergh," one page, 8.5 x 11, Daniel Guggenheim Fund letterhead, June 2, 1930. Letter to Commander P. V. H. Weems of the USS Cuyama. In part: "We used one of your sextants and a great deal from your System of Navigation on our last transcontinental trip. Mrs. Lindbergh took all of the sextant readings in addition to working them out and doing most of the navigation. We saw a great deal of Mr. Gatty while we were in Los Angeles and I believe that he is carrying on the navigation work in an excellent manner." Intersecting folds, light toning, and punch holes to edges, otherwise fine condition. In addition to his service in the US Navy, P. V. H. Weems was an inventor of navigational instruments and methods including the Weems Plotter and the Second Setting Watch.
