Aircraft Collision Painting
This painting is a real life depiction of 1st Lt. Don Lopez's unorthodox way of getting enough enemy 'kills' in his P40 against a Japanese 'Oscar'. Not a bad effort at all since according to the lot description it was his first scramble and he still managed to stick around for the remainder of the dogfight!
Painted by William S. Phillips, the painting is one of an edition of 200 and it's expected to raise $960-1,280 at auction at Artistic Findings. Interestingly battles from the Pacific often make for some of the best art pieces and this one is definitely linked to one of the most interesting stories I've come across for a while!
