One is gold/yellow and reads, "Ascot Park AUTO RACES Motor Drome." Measures 4x31.5 cm. (7½x12½"). One is red, and was an Usher ribbon. Reads (printed vertically), "Auto Races General Amusements Usher. Simpson and Shrine Auditoriums Ascot Park Season 1910 Los Angeles, Cal." Measures 24x5.6 cm. (9½x2 ¼").Auto races were held regularly at the original Ascot Park, at the intersection of Slauson and Central Avenues, considered the premier dirt track on the West Coast. Motordrome track opened in April 1910. Famed race car driver Barney Oldfield tested the track before it opened, and was an early participant in race events. Condition: Tiny holes at left and right edge of gold/yellow ribbon; else near fine.
