Mark Twain with his friend John Lewis in 1903. Mark "Sam Clemens" Twain was one of hundreds of visitors to the White House over a 40 year period who's signature was collected by doorman Maj. Charles D.A. Loeffler in a special autograph book. The album includes the signatures of Ulysses S. Grant, Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, The Queen of Hawaii, Buffalo Bill Cody, P.T. Barnam, and many others and has just been put up for auction at Maynards Fine Art & Antiquities on September 18.

At first I thought this was the guy from the movie that's out right now (The Butler) but it's not. Similar elements though. Weird coincidence...
