Paul McCartney 'Mull of Kintyre' postcard makes £1000
A postcard that was written and sent by Paul McCartney from Mull of Kintyre has sold for £1,000 at auction.
The postcard was addressed to his housekeeper Rose Martin who remained in London after McCartney and his family moved to Scotland following the break up of The Beatles.
It was sold by Omega Auctions as part of a sale of Beatles memorabilia on Tuesday.
Mull of Kintyre was a huge source of inspiration for McCartney who is said to have written 'The Long and Winding Road' about its ‘wandering single-track roads and sense of solace’.
McCartney was also immortalized his love of the area in the 1977 Wings song 'Mull of Kintyre' which went on to become one of the biggest selling singles of all time-shifting $2.5 Million copies.
