Lot 829: Conde Carmen: (1907-1996) Spanish Poet And Writer. Founder Of The First Popular University And The First Woman To Become Number Academic Of The Royal Academy Of Spain. Small Collection Of Two A.Ls.S., And Three T.Ls.S., Carmen, One Or Two Pages Each, 8Vo (One 4To), And One Attractive Postcard, Madrid And Avila 1955-57, All To Juana Granados, In Spanish. The First A.L.S., Being A Postcard Bearing To The Front A Flamenco Spanish Woman, Seated, Wearing The Classic Andalusian Suit, Alongside A Spanish Guitar And A Toreador Poster. The Clothes Being In Real Tissue Affixed To The Postcard. Conde Sends Her Greetings To Her Correspondent For The New Year, 1956, And Congratulates Her For Her Success. On The Second A.L.S., Two Pages, Dated 27Th September 1957, Conde States 'Am Overwhelmed With So Much Work On The Book Of Ruben Dario With Francisca Sanchez Who Is Here By My Side..' And Further Referring To The Subjectivity Of Contemporary Colleagues, Saying 'I Am Partial And More Subjective Than Anybody Else! I Alwaqys Told You So.' On The First T.L.S., Dated 18Th May 1954, Conde Reports Her Next Working Travels And Lists Her Destinies '..I'Ll Take The Train Tonight And Will Be In Paris Tomorrow, And After This In Heidelberg, Poste, Restante, Bonn, … Please Make Your Best To Publish In Italy The Poem I Enclose, Written By Louis Emié. I Will Write To Bertini, His Article Is Magnificient And I Am Delighted With Him And With Fiume.' On The Second T.L.S., Dated 1St March 1955 Conde Starts Referring To Her Poem Hambre ("Hunger"), And To The Great Success Had In France And Italy, And Explains How Happy She Is With The Translations. Conde Further Refers To The Dead Spanish Poet Miguel Hernandez Saying 'The Third Poet Could Be Miguel Hernandez. I Will Travel To Orihuela, His Birth City, To A Tribute To Him And To Other Young Local Dead Poets. I Could Ask To His Widow A Written Permission In Your Favour Authorizing You To Translate His Works.' On The Third And Last T.L.S., Two Pages, Conde Refers To Several Works And Encloses A 3 X 4 Photograph, Signed To The Verso By Miguel Hernandez' Widow, By His Son Named Miguel Hernandez Too, And By Few Other Relatives. The Image Depicting The Family Outdoors, At Miguel Hernandez Home Entrance Door. The Five Letters Are Accompanied By The Original Envelopes.
