Lot 788: Rolland Romain: (1866-1944) French Dramatist & Novelist, Nobel Prize Winner For Literature, 1915. A Very Fine A.L.S., Romain Rolland, Two Pages, 8Vo, Geneva, 17Th November 1915, To L. Lavater, In French, On The Printed Stationery Of The Hotel Beau-Sejour At Geneve-Champel. Rolland Refers To One Of His Celebrated Works Jean-Christophe And Mentions 'I Think That If The Text Repetition Don'T Break Too Much The Chapter Motion, It Wouldn'T Be Useless To Present The Two Versions, Because Among Your German Speaking Audience There Will Be For Sure A Small Minority Of French Audience. And Even If There Were Only Ten, It Would Be Untoward If They Don'T Understand The Meaning Of The Poem.' The Author Further Explains In A Very Interesting Report The Reason Why He Thinks So.
