Lot 752: British conductor of the Halle Orchestra (1899–1970) who previously served as Arturo Toscanini's successor as music director of the New York Philharmonic. Exceptionally clear matte-finish 6.25 x 8.5 photo of Barbirolli, affixed along the top edge to a slightly larger mount, signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "To my friend Franz Samohyl, in remembrance of the happiest music we have made together, John Barbirolli, Vienna, 1947."
