Lot 746: AQS on an off-white 5 x 4 sheet, signed at the conclusion in crisp ink, "Oliver Wendell Holmes, Boston, November 7th 1880." Holmes pens the last lines of his oft-anthologized poem 'The Last Leaf.' In full: "And if I should live to be / The last leaf upon the tree / In the spring, / Let them smile, as I do now, / At the old forsaken bough / Where I cling." Mounted, cloth-matted, and framed to an overall size of 9 x 8.5. A central horizontal fold passing through one line and two areas of dampstaining to the left side, otherwise fine condition. RR Auction's Fine Autographs and Artifacts Auction 456 Wednesday, 15th July 2015 Estimate: $200-400
