Lot 725: Printed color illustration of the Cat in the Hat on an off-white 5.5 x 8.5 sheet, signed and inscribed in black ink, "With kindest regards to Alfred J. Kaiser, (M. D.), from Dr. Seuss (Quack)," who adds below, "(And I'm very proud of being associated with you via Brown University. Being honored on that campus was one of the top experiences of my life!)." Dr. Seuss signs again in red artist's pencil. In fine condition, with light creasing to upper portion of central vertical fold. Over thirty years after receiving an honorary degree from his alma mater, Dartmouth College, and subsequently adding the prefix 'Dr.' to his pen name, Seuss accepted another from Brown University in 1987, the eighth such award he would receive during his lifetime.
