Lot 699: American writer (1886–1918), best known for the much-anthologized poem 'Trees,' who was killed at the Second Battle of Marne at the age of 31. ALS, one page, 5 x 7.75, Horrex's Hotel letterhead, no date. Letter to Mr. Meynell, in full: "It is very kind of you to ask me to take lunch with you tomorrow. It will give me great pleasure to know you." Kilmer adds "Wednesday evening" below his signature. In fine condition, with very slightly trimmed edges.
