Lot 612: French writer and poet (1896–1966) best known as the founder of Surrealism. ALS in French, one page, 4 x 5.5, May 9, 1933. Letter to his dear friend, Rene Laporte, in full (translated): "Enclosed is the small text that I told you about. It is not particularly impressive from a typographical point of view but I do think it is very meaningful." In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and wrinkling. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Breton's own hand.
