Two items: an edition of Herman Melville’s Pierre or The Ambiguities, hardcover with dust jacket, signed on the half-title page in black felt tip by illustrator Maurice Sendak and editor Hershel Parker; and an ALS by Sendak, one page, January 1990, in full: “It’s impossible to choose one writer. I must have at least two. Herman Melville and Henry James. Why? They have immensely improved my life.” In overall fine condition.
