Original study for the dust jacket of A Perfect Friend by Reynolds Price, accomplished by Sendak on a white 9 x 12 sheet of heavyweight tracing paper, signed in the lower right corner, “Maurice Sendak.” The wonderful drawing depicts a young boy asleep in a grove with an elephant in the foreground. In fine condition, with a torn lower right blank corner. Accompanied by a copy of the final book the design was used for.
