Lot 408: ALS in German, one page, 8.25 x 5.75, May 21, 1963. Letter to Professor Gitter in Stolberg, in part (translated): "I thank you and the nurses of the Medical Clinic for the honor of naming one of the 5 wards after me…Unfortunately, your letter has arrived too late. I could not answer you in time. Everything is going well at the hospital. We are 7 doctors and 17 European nurses, with hospital space for 400 patients." A central vertical fold, a small hole to lower left corner and slight creasing, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and an unsigned photo of Schweitzer.
