(8vo) dark green cloth with gilt lettering. First Edition.This copy is from the library of noted bibliophile Frederick Skiff, and his bookplate is affixed to the front paste-down page. Inscribed to freelance journalist E.S. Turner on front free endpaper by both Burroughs and Barrus: "Inscribed for my friend E.S. Turner, John Burroughs. Cordially yours, Clara Barrus. A photograph of Burroughs is pasted on the half title page along with an inscription in pencil: "Age 80 years, April 3, 1917". This copy also includes handwritten letters from both Burroughs and Barrus to E.S. Turner, dated 1916. Barrus discusses Burroughs' ill health, and Burroughs comments on Mr. Henry Ford's mistaken 'peace mission', as well as his friend T.R. Roosevelt. Condition: Some rubbing at edges of cloth; very good or better.
