Lot 379: LS, one page, 9 x 11, June 18, 1842. Letter to Samuel B. Ruggles of New York. In part: "The Geological survey is in press, and probably the first volume will be published in a few weeks. My plan of an introduction on the subject of physical improvement has changed to the more comprehensive…purpose of a history of the progress and present condition of the sciences and the arts in the State of New York." In fine condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature) and light soiling. Accompanied by an unsigned engraved portrait.
