Lot 349: Weill Kurt: (1900-1950) German Composer Of The Ballad Mack The Knife As Part Of His Best Known Work, The Threepenny Opera. T.L.S., Kurt Weill, One Page, 4To, Berlin, 29Th March 1932, To A Gentleman, In French. Weill Apologises For Not Having Replied To His Correspondent Before Now, Explaining That He Has Just Returned From A Trip, And Adding That He Has Asked The Photographers Zander & Labisch To Send A Photograph Of Die Burgschaft And Also Asked His Editors, Universal-Edition In Vienna, To Send His Correspondent Some Particularly Interesting Newspaper Clippings. Vg Die Burgschaft ('The Pledge') Is An Opera In Three Acts By Weill. Composed In 1931, It Premiered On 10Th March 1932, Shortly Before The Present Letter Was Written, At The Stadtische Oper In Berlin.
