Lot 227: Chinese revolutionary (1866–1925) who helped to overthrow the centuries-old Qing Dynasty in 1911 to become the first president of the Republic of China. Exceedingly rare circa 1912 cabinet-style 3.5 x 5 albumen portrait of Sun Yat-sen affixed to its original 4.75 x 8.5 mount, boldly signed on the image in black ink, "Sun Yet sen." Published by H. T. Thompson. In fine condition, with some unobtrusive bends and creases to the mount. As a revered political leader of the 20th century and the key figure in establishing the modern Chinese state, Sun Yat-sen represents one of the most highly sought-after autographs worldwide. Signed photographs are excessively rare and this is the first we have offered in fifteen years. RR Auction's Fine Autographs and Artifacts Auction 466 Wednesday, 9th December 2015 Estimate: $6000-8000
