Lot 222: LS in French, signed "Np," one page, 7 x 9, June 1, 1811. Untranslated military dispatch to a duke concerning his desired strategy for the movement of battalions. Attractively mounted, double-matted, and framed with a portrait of Napoleon to an overall size of 24 x 17. In fine condition, with intersecting folds. During this period Napoleon's empire had expanded across Europe to embody a population of over seventy million, and he was engaged in the Peninsular War against the UK, Spain, and Portugal.
