Lot 173: Scottish bacteriologist (1881–1955) who shared the 1945 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his role in the discovery and isolation of penicillin. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, personal letterhead, December 25, 1951. In part: "I have not sent any Christmas cards but now on Christmas day I wish you good cheer and good fortune in 1952. I have just eaten and drunk well and I feel at peace with the world. Thank you very much for 'Life.' I seem to have let myself in for something for I understand that when the Recks of Edinburgh Unit is installed they have the same…proceedings." In fine condition.
