Description: Two-page autograph letter, signed. On a single folded sheet, 81/2x51/2". Autograph letter, signed, from Capote to a Miss Lieppert, in full: "Dear Miss Lieppert - I am writing at the suggestion of Mr. Arthur Laurents, who thought you might be able to help me find a beach house (in Quogue) to rent this summer. The house must be by the water, have a garage, at least two bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace and a good kitchen. I would want it from 1 June to 15 October; and I do not want to pay in excess of $2,500. I would very much appreciate any help you may be able to give me. Most sincerely, Truman Capote." At the date of the letter, Capote had begun work on his masterpiece, In Cold Blood. Accompanied by a book club edition of the work, inscribed by the author on the half title: "for Kay Graff, with all good wishes, Truman Capote", Ms Graff's bookplate and ownership signature on front endpapers. Condition: Letter with mailing creases, light wear, staple holes in upper margin; book and jacket lightly worn; very good overall.
