Civil War Autograph Album Fails to Sell At Auction
An album of civil war autographs that featured Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S Grant has failed to sell at a New York auction.
The album had been compiled from 1861-1864 by Teresa Viele wife of Egbert L. Viele (VEE'-lee), a Union Army general, and contained autographs and handwritten letters from famous political, military and literary figures.
The album had been expected to make between $80,000 to $120,000 at auction with Swann Auction Galleries.
