Wexner Centre's Picasso exhibition to explore artist's influence
The Wexner Centre for Arts in Columbus, Ohio is to hold After Picasso: 80 Contemporary Artists – which will showcase Picasso’s influence on modern art.
The show opens on September 19 and runs until December 27.
It will include work from Roy Lichtenstein, Maria Lassnig and Martin Kippenberger among others.
Curator Dick Lucknow comments: “Picasso’s art is so influential, because his work and his person cannot be divided from one another and this makes his work exemplary.
“The once-in-a-century genius’s impact on contemporary art remains underestimated and this exhibition underscores how Picasso’s oeuvre continues to encourage both appropriation and reinterpretation, but also the challenge to overpower him.”
