Well-known Hieronymous Bosch works could be forgeries
Two well-known works by Hieronymus Bosch are likely to be forgeries according to an expert.
Christ Carrying the Cross and The Seven Deadly Sins, which hang in Ghent’s Museum of Fine Arts and Madrid’s Prado Museum respectively, have undergone testing at the Bosch Research and Conservation Project for several years.
The organisation explained that the works “were made at the same time, but likely to have been made by imitators.
"Together with the microscopic study of the paintings, all of this enabled us to write extensive research reports detailing the conditions of the works.”
