Villa Grisebach Auctions
Villa Grisebach Auctions is a German auction house which specialises in art and photography.
Background and history
Villa Grisebach Auctions was established in 1986 through a collaboration of five Berlin art dealers: Bernd Schultz, Hans Pels-Leusden, Wilfried Utermann, Raimund Thomas and Michael Neumann.
Led by Schultz, the group were determined to restore Berlin’s former reputation as one of the world’s art capitals through their new venture. They found success during their first year of business, and their dedicated approach which combined fresh discoveries along with extended guarantees earned them a reputation for being “transparent, fair, and market-realistic”.
Since 1988, Villa Grisebach has consistently been Germany’s top-selling Modern Art auction house and has achieved an international status through their expertise and promotion of modern German art around the world.
The company conducts two suites of sales each year, in the Spring and Autumn.
