Julene Mechler (1912 – 2005) was a Hawaiian commercial artist and sculptor who created a range of ceramic figurines based on her sculptures. The figurines were made during the 1950s and 60s, and are highly collectible today. Each model was cast and hand-painted by Mechler herself, and the range features a cast of native Hawaiian characters.
The majority of her figurines were female, and the small number of male models she created are highly sought after. Figurines can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on the quality and rarity.
