Gerhard Richter is the world's most collectible artist
I saw Artnet has just released its annual list of the world's 100 most collectible living artists. Gerhard Richter is on top again, followed by American artists like Jeff Koons and Christopher Wool, and Chinese contemporary artists such as Cui Ruzhuo and Zeng Fanzhi.
Sadly there are only and handful of women on the list, including Yayoi Kusama, Cindy Sherman, Vija Celmins, Julie Mehretu and Cady Noland - but I guess that's the contemporary art market for ya!
I have to be honest - I just don't get the Koons love. Something about that guy just rubs me up the wrong way. Glad to see Peter Doig in the top 10 though, love his work.
What do you guys think? The list is based solely on the value of auction sales, but from a creative pint of view, who do you think should be on there? Here's the list:
