Forgotten Constable to be auctioned
In 2013 this painting was valued at £500 by Christie's. This year it could sell for almost £2 million at auction at Sotheby's. What's its trick? they discovered it was a forgotten Constable artwork.
According to The Telegraph it was originally thought that the painting was merely painted by a fan of John Constable's work and had mirrored his techniques and subject in what was described as "a misguided attempt to finish it."
The study by Constable heads to auction in New York on the 29th of January.
