A David Hockney autographed art car book is a rare signed book offered for sale by the company Paul Fraser Collectibles.

 

Background information

David Hockney is an influential British artist who came to prominence during the Pop Art movement of the 1960s.

In 1995 he took part in the BMW Art Car project, in which renowned artists are commissioned to create a work of art using a BMW racing car as a canvas. Hockney decorated a BMW 850 CSi.

Other artists to have taken part in the project since its inception in 1975 include Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Alexander Calder, Jeff Koons and Robert Rauschenberg.

Item description

The item is a copy of the official book ‘Art Cars: Kunst am Automobil - Automobile Art’ published by BMW in 1993.

It features 72 pages with full colour photographs and text in both English and German, detailing all 15 of the ‘Art Cars’ created so far.

The book is signed in black in by David Hockney on the inside title page.
