US returns Iraqi artefacts stolen by ISIS
The US has returned a number of Iraqi artefacts stolen from museums by ISIS.
The items were recovered in an assault on the home of the terror organisations top financial advisor in Syria. They included jewellery, coins and artworks which would have been used to fund the groups activities.
US ambassador Stuart Jones comments: "These artefacts are indisputable evidence that Daesh (IS) -- beyond its terrorism, beyond its brutality and destruction -- is also a criminal gang that is looting antiquities from museums and historical sites, and of course the purpose of this is to sell these items on the black market.
