This is the first ever map of Shropshire
This map, dating from 1579, is the first ever map of Shropshire and it is about to go on display before being put up for sale for £2,200.
The map dates from a time when England was still being ruled by Queen Elizabeth 1st and was drawn by Christopher Saxton and his tiny team who produced the first ever county maps of England and Wales. It will form part of an antique map exhibition at the Manor Farm in Brampton Bryan where it is also being offered for sale.
