The Canterbury Auction Galleries is an auction house based in Canterbury, Kent About the company

The Canterbury Auction Galleries is the leading independent auction house in Kent and one of the most successful provincial auction houses in the UK.

The business operates in one of the first purpose built salerooms outside London – built and established in 1911 by William Kennett. The premises were extended in the 1920s and remained a family run business until local estate agents, Worsfolds, took charge in the 1960s. In 1991 the business was acquired by Tony Pratt. In 2001 an extensive refurbishment and renovation programme was completed.

The Canterbury Auction Galleries has featured for many years on antiques related programmes Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Cash in the Attic, with all of the auctioneers taking part, particularly General Manager & Auctioneer Michael Roberts who has appeared on many episodes of Bargain Hunt.

Using a specialist team of valuers, cataloguers and auctioneers, The Canterbury Auction Galleries hold six highly successful Two-Day Fine Art, Antiques and Collectables auctions each year, each auction comprising around 1500 good quality lots.

For each auction, a fully illustrated glossy catalogue is produced, as well as being listed on our website and hosted by our online auction partners.

As with every auction, we welcome bids from bidders in person in our saleroom as well as by telephone or by commission. In addition to these options, each of our auctions are streamed live globally across three different online bidding platforms (based in UK, China and USA respectively) giving buyers worldwide the ability to bid live in real time on any lot in our auctions.
