Swiss penknife valued at £80,000 on Antiques Roadshow
An exquisite 200 year old Swiss musical penknife has been valued at £80,000 on the Antiques Roadshow.
The penknife was brought along to the BBC One show by Clive Hopkins on behalf of his daughter-in-law.
Expert Jon Baddeley admitted that neither he nor any of his collegues had seen anything like it, describing it as 'one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on the Roadshow' before valuing it at £60,000 and £80,000.
It was made in Switzerland between 1810 and 1820 and is finely decorated with enamel and sea pearls. It has a key arm which can be wound to play music-though the key is broken.
Hopkins has said he will have the key repaired and return to the Antiques Roadshow and that his family may put it on display in a museum.
