I LOVE this item! Is it wind up? It looks like it has a key... what does it do?

A popular toy made from 1899-1935 this large wind-up shows a seal that moves well across the table on a winding, complete with whiskers and bell. Shown with wonderful original box and unique proprietary key with logo that only fits this toy and one other (“Tyras” EPL 432). This one is shown with the standard box with removable lid. Embossed on the front of the box is “Deutche Neuheit!” (exclamation original) which means “German novelty.”

I've seen worse condition ones sell on ebay for hundreds more - someone got a bit of a barg.
