ISIS destroys 2,000 year old Syrian temple
Satellite images appear to have confirmed that Syria’s Temple of Bel in Palmyra has been destroyed by ISIS.
The ancient site, which dates back around 2,000 years, was an ancient religious centre.
ISIS has been destroying ancient sites throughout the middle east, partly in a bid to crush idolatry (even though the other religions died out millennia ago) and partly to loot treasures to sell on to the black market.
UNESCO has condemned the action as a war crime.
