A monument to technology when it burst on the scene in depression era 1935, The Flying Yankee, one of the the first diesel electric, stainless steel trains is currently being restored by The Flying Yankee Restoration Group. A train that cost $285,000 to build in 1935 is costing an estimated $3.5 million to restore.
