Charlie Ross Auctioneer
Charlie Ross is a respected auctioneer and valuer who regularly appears on BBC programmes such as The Antiques Road Trip, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, Bargain Hunt and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
Having run his own auction house in Woburn for more than 25 years, Ross has sold everything from rare antiques and artworks to multi-million dollar classic cars, commercial and residential properties, and even Intellectual Property.
He now works as a freelance auctioneer, taking the rostrum at high-profile sales around the world from Cape Town to Monaco, Brussels to Beverly Hills, and has presided over world-record sales in almost every category.
Ross is currently the resident auctioneer for MacDougall’s, a London-based auction house specializing in Russian art which regularly brings in annual sales of £20 million or more.
He also serves as a regular auctioneer for the classic car auction house Gooding & Company, conducting their annual sales in Scottsdale, Arizona, Amelia Island in Florida, and the Pebble Beach sale in California, held in conjunction with the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
In recent years this role has seen him sell notable cars including a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series Coupe Aerodinamico for just over $4 million, a 1959 Ferrari California 250 GT Spider for $7.7 million, a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 for $3.3 million and a Le Mans-winning 1982 Porsche 956 for just over $10 million.
According to David Gooding, President & CEO of Gooding & Company: "Without doubt the finest auctioneer I have ever seen in action is Mr Charlie Ross. Charlie's vast experience and ease on the rostrum, combined with his charm and quick wit, enable him to engage and keep total control of a room that is sometimes as large as two thousand people."
In addition he is a popular and sought-after charity auctioneer, and over the past few years has helped raise millions of pounds for charities including Clic Sargent, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Shooting Star Hospice, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at their 150th Anniversary dinner, Caudwell Children, Amber Lounge at the Monaco Grand Prix, the Shane Warne Foundation, House of Fraser and The Lord's Taverners.
