Bonhams to sell stunning Asian antiques

Bonhams San Francisco have announced details of their upcoming June 19th – 20th auction of more than 700 Fine Asian Works of Art and Asian Decorative Art.

The two day auction will begin with beautiful antiques such as a 19th century eight-panel Chinese cinnabar lacquer and hard stone overlay screen, depicting the eight Immortals estimate at $10,000-$15,000, and a set of 12 embroidered and painted hanging scrolls, which picture an imperial audience scene estimated at $50,000-$80,000.

An attractive array of ceramics will feature, such as a 12th-13th century Jin dynasty Junyao lotus bud jar estimated to sell for $30,000-$50,000, four enameled Republic Period figural plaques valued at $40,000-$60,000, and an unusual Korean selection of ceramics, including an 18th – 19th century Joseon dynasty dragon jar of blue and white porcelain, valued at $40,000-$60,000. There will also be a selection of jade carvings and snuff bottles sure to attract attention.

The section of Chinese scholar’s objects is headlined by a canton enamel floriform covered box with closing lid forming a 12 petal flower, Quianlong period, estimated at £20,000-$30,000. The Chinese robes and textiles section features an embroidered yellow silk twelve-symbol dragon robe valued at $50,000-$70,000. More than 60 lots of Chinese paintings are to be sold, including Vision du Reve by Zao Wou-ki estimated to sell for $25,000-$40,000.

The second day, the Asian decorative arts auction features ceramics, decorative jades and snuff bottles, including a chilong dragon spinach jade brush washer estimated at $8,000-$10,000.
