5th century Celtic flagon valued at up to $139,500
A 5th century BC Celtic bronze flagon is to cross the block at Bonhams London.
It’s one of a handful of specimens in private hands and is expected to sell for around £70,000-90,000 ($108,485-139,481) in the September 30 sale.
Madeleine Perridge, Bonhams’ head of antiquities, explained: “Very few of these impressive artefacts have survived.
“The sophisticated decoration on the flagons and their presence in tombs of the aristocracy suggest they were as highly prized then as they are today.”
