.
people remember past decades so differently. during the 80s i didn't know any coke snorting yuppies but i do remember a pretty sudden upsurge in the number of people on the streets. my favourite 80s collectible? hate to admit it, but i have a bit of a thing for vintage my little pony dolls and mario bros memorabilia. so, my question is: what do you remember about the 1980s and what's your favourite 1980s collectible? peace and love

I worked in publishing during the 1980s and had an utter blast - lots of working lunches with up and coming authors! The poor mites certainly looked like they needed feeding.

Signed first editions from the 1980s are a pleasure of mine: I have a number of Alice Walkers, a John Updike and a rather tatty Ruth Padel.

the 80s was such a naff period - much more appealing now than it was at the time, I suppose, but lacking, almost wholly, in the kind of *substance* that makes me want to collect things.

Jaws - I'll never forget Jaws.

Yeah? Well it stayed with me well into the 90s.

I collect tea pots - one of my faves is a Maggie Thatcher caricature one (nose = spout). The eighties was a turbulent time for a lot of people - though I actually think it's worse for young people now.

Cigarette advertisements from the 80s make me chuckle now.
