Vintage Jacob Ruppert beer trays are collectible items of breweriana advertising.

According to the 1930 Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act’s definition, “vintage” refers to pieces manufactured within the last 100 years and can include items made as recently as the 1980s.

Jacob Ruppert Brewery

The Jacob Ruppert Brewery was established in New York in the early 1860s. Ruppert sold 5,000 barrels in his first year.

Vintage Jacob Ruppert trays

Vintage Jacob Ruppert trays are highly collectible.

The most desirable pieces are metal oval designs from the late 1930s and feature two raised mugs of beer, accompanied by the slogan “Jacob Ruppert Beer-Ale”.

They were made by the Electro Chemical Engraving Company of New York.

Other, circular and rectangular varieties were also produced. One circular variant includes the slogan: “The Talk of the Town”.

How much are vintage Jacob Ruppert trays worth?

Vintage Jacob Ruppert oval trays from the late 1930s can sell for between $15 and $35 at internet auction sites such as eBay.

Circular variants bearing the “The Talk of the Town” slogan have achieved around $30 in the past.
