Vintage Falstaff beer lighters are collectible items of breweriana advertising.

According to the 1930 Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act’s definition, “vintage” refers to pieces manufactured within the last 100 years and can include items made as recently as the 1980s.

Falstaff Brewing Corporation

Falstaff Brewing Corporation was based in St Louis, Missouri. It was established in 1838 as the Lemp Brewery, taking the name of Falstaff in 1903.

The company was its height in 1966, when sales reached more than 7m barrels per annum.

It ceased production of its flagship Falstaff beer in 2005, although the company continues to produce a number of other beers in limited numbers.

Vintage Falstaff beer lighters

Vintage Falstaff beer lighters come in a range of shapes and styles. They were produced by a number of manufacturers.

Some of the most collectible Falstaff lighters were those made by Zippo.

Others include those produced by Scripto, and the Park Lighter Co. in the 1970s. These latter aluminium items are often found in a red and silver combination, featuring the Falstaff logo.

Some, also from the 1970s, can be found in the shape of beer cans. Some of these feature a wind up musical box in the bottom of the can.

Retro Park produced an aluminium Falstaff lighter in the 1960s.

How much are vintage Falstaff beer lighters worth?

Vintage Falstaff lighters produced by Zippo can sell for around $25 at internet auction sites, while Retro Park and Scripto versions can be picked up for around $15.

Beer can variants tend to sell for less than $10.
