The Toynami Voltron Masterpiece Edition is a limited-edition action figure based on the Japanese cartoon character Voltron, produced by the toy manufacturer Toynami.

Background information

The figure is based on the character of Voltron, a large robot built from five smaller vehicles and piloted by a team known as the Voltron Force. Each pilot controls a robotic lion, which join together to form the robot.

The characters featured in the cartoon series ‘Voltron: Defender of the Universe’, which was itself created using re-dubbed and edited footage from a Japanese animation called ‘Beast King GoLion’. It was created by the American television producer Peter Keefe, and first appeared on U.S television in 1984. It proved hugely popular, and ran for 124 episodes along with spawning a wide range of toys which are produced to this day.

Toynami Voltron Masterpiece Edition

The Toynami Voltron Masterpiece Edition was released as a limited-edition collectible figure in 2005. It was packaged in a book-style box, containing each of the five separate lion robots. When joined together, they form the fully-articulated Voltron robot which stands 12” tall and comes complete with a large sword and shield.

Only 15,000 examples were issued worldwide, and today the figure is sought after by collectors.

How much is a Toynami Voltron Masterpiece Edition figure worth?

The fact that the figure was issued as a limited edition collectible and retailed at around $150 means that there are several examples available which are NIB (New In Box). However, the quality and popularity of the toy means that these examples can sell for between $200 - $400 on internet auction sites such as eBay.
